Testimonials"My primary experience with IAMS has been as the parent of a clarinet student, and as a student myself. My son, who has just entered college, began playing clarinet in elementary school, and took up alto saxophone when he was in middle school. In high school, he successfully auditioned for the Long Beach Polytechnic High School’s Symphonic Winds performing group, and also played in the symphony and chamber orchestras. During his freshman year of high school, he reached a plateau in his musical development. We called and interviewed numerous private teachers, and fortunately, were referred to Dr. William Wellwood at IAMS. Once my son began taking lessons at IAMS, he quickly gained new skills and knowledge. Dr. Wellwood set high standards, which my son worked hard to meet. My son successfully competed in local and regional solo and ensemble festivals, both as a soloist and as a member of a woodwind trio, consistently earning “superior” ratings. His band teacher noticed the difference in his playing and gave him new responsibilities within his high school music groups. When my son applied to college, his essays were about his music experiences. He was offered a four-year music scholarship at one college. He also performed in a clarinet-flute duet in the Long Beach Youth Ensemble, and won an award. These achievements, which have been such an important part of my son’s life, would not have been possible without IAMS."
"As we near the end of our tenth year working with you as my daughter’s private violin teacher, I’d like to thank you for the extraordinary effort you’ve given us to help her to become an accomplished “first-stand” violinist at her high school and with the Southern California Youth Symphony Orchestra. Thank you also for the invaluable guidance that you’ve provided her all these years which contributed, in part, to her admission this fall into the University of California, Berkeley." |
